Weekend in the Otways
(Weekend Trip)
Sat 16 - Sun 17 November 2024
We will head into the National Park behind Anglesea and make our way south into the Otways.
We will aim to arrive at Lake Elizabeth late afternoon and set up camp.
There's an optional dusk/evening walk to the lake (3km round trip) to hopefully see a platypus or two.
On Sunday we'll head west to explore Carlisle State Park before returning to the coast in the early afternoon.

Marysville Day Trip

Arriving at Blackspur Inn for quick briefing.
Then aiming to go up Strickland Spur, Perry's and Ackerman Track.
Should be a good day out with some steep sections.
Finish at Black Spur inn.

Wombat, Lerderderg Adventure
(Weekend Trip)
Fri 15 - Sun 17 November 2024
We will visit Trentham and following a quick look around the town, visiting the famous bakery
and the Saturday market then off to the explore the Wombat forest tracks,
and some of the old mining and logging relics.
This is a dog friendly trip, so bring your pooch. Must stay on their leads and be sociable.

King Valley - Wine, Dine & Drive
(Weekend Trip)
Fri 8 - Sun 10 November 2024
On this trip, we will be base camping at Gentle Annies Caravan Park in Whitfield. Friday night, we will be having dinner at the Mountain View Hotel at about 6:00 pm.
On Saturday, we will be taking on the tracks around Lake William Hovel. Some tracks vary from easy to difficult, depending on conditions.
Places we will visit over the weekend include Paradise Falls, Lake Cobbler, King Hut and Powers Lookout. After a morning drive on Sunday, we will head off to Gracebrook winery for great local wine and produce for lunch.
The trip will conclude Sunday after the winery lunch. Preference will be given to participants who can take part in the Friday night meal and Sunday lunch.

Cup Weekend in the Big Desert
(Melb Cup Weekend Trip)
Sat 2 - Mon 4 November 2024
Join us on an exploration (recce) of the Big Desert area in western Victoria.
Base camping at Murrayville (6 hours from the westgate bridge).
The trip will officially kick off with happy hour at 5pm on Saturday November 2.
Sunday will be a full days drive in the Big Desert State Park.
On Monday we plan to visit a section of the border track and return via SA

Thornton to the Black Spur
(Weekend Trip)
Sat 26 - Sun 27 October 2024
This trip is based on treks 12 and 13 from "4WD Treks Close to Melbourne" book.
Starting in Thornton we will follow the Rubicon River visiting the Cathedral Range NP before passing through Marysville to camp the night at Anderson Mill.
Sunday we will visit some lookouts before we tackle the descent of The Mount Strickland Track.
The trip will finish at the Dom Dom Saddle rest area on the Black Spur.

Doing it easy in the East
(Weekend Trip)
Sat 12 - Sun 13 October 2024
On Saturday morning, we will head up through some of the tracks in Bunyip State Park working our way across towards Gembrook then up to Kurth Kiln. These tracks are fairly easy but after rain can be a bit more fun!
Kurth Kiln campground is a big area with lots to see in the area. It has good fireplaces so we'll aim to get in mid afternoon and be sure and pack some firewood as local pickings can be scarce! There’s also a great 4km walk for anyone that’s interested - https://walkingmaps.com.au/walk/417
Sunday morning we will depart late heading across to Noojee via Powelltown where the trip will conclude before we head into the Noojee pub for lunch.
50% of places on this trip will be reserved for new members. This will be an easy slow paced trip to enjoy and get you into club trip mode.

Pyrenees & Kara Kara
(Weekend Trip)
Fri 11 - Sun 13 October 2024
This trip will kick off on Saturday morning. Saturday's drive will be a day trip heading south into the Pyrenees. There will be some challenging tracks with rocks, ruts and steps etc. (Old Bluff track is an option if you'd like a really tough climb).
Bring food and drink for the day.
There will be a campfire / happy hour on Saturday night.
There will also be an optional 2-3 hour drive on Sunday morning into Kara Kara NP which should be an easy to medium drive.

We will then visit many areas of interest around Rubicon and a visit to Snobs Creek falls.

Pyrenees Recce
(Mid Week Day Trip)
Wed 2 October 2024
We will head into the Pyrenees from the north and explore some tracks for a weekend trip coming up later in the year.
We will come across some rocks and ruts and expect some challenging tracks.
Old Bluff is an option for anyone keen to test their vehicle.

Landsborough Ridge
(Day Trip)
Fri 27 September 2024
Meeting near Beaufort in Western Victoria on the Grand Final Public Holiday, we will head north to explore some tracks in the Landsborough Conservation Reserve and check out the views from the ridge.
It should be an easy drive through the bush with just a couple of moderate climbs (assuming it is not very wet). Bring food and drinks for the day.
There is camping available on a bush block nearby on the Thursday night before and/or Friday night and after the trip.

Yarck Adventure Weekend

Everyone's welcome, little kids, big kids and adults.
Join our Local Landcare members on Friday for an evening spotlight along the Yarck walking trails.
Supper and Milo at the Hilton or Burch Hut.
Meet the Yarck Fire Brigade on Saturday morning. Cook your lunch on an open fire - jaffles and scones.
Learn about the importance of bugs, birds and trees. Children can choose a shrub, plant it in the garden
with their name tag beside it and watch it grow.

Flinders Ranges in a Fortnight!
(Two Week Outback Trip)
Sun 25 Aug - Fri 6 September 2024
We will meet up at Mundulla in South Australia near the border (just off the Western Hwy) and spend the night at the showgrounds. The pub does a great meal too.
Next morning, we will make our way into the southern Flinders Ranges for a 3 night stay at a station near Peterborough. There will be a couple of days exploring 4WD tracks around the area, campfires and happy hours.
From there we will make our way into the central section for 4 nights at a 2nd station. We will have 1 full day on Sky Trek, plus sightseeing tours of Blinman, various gorges, optional bush hikes etc.
From there we head north to our 3rd station for a further 3 nights. More 4WD tracks, ruins to explore and touring, plus campfires and did I mention happy hours?
The final night of the trip will be at Melrose Showgrounds.

Big Desert & Border Track Adventure
(Mid Week Trip)
Sat 24 - Thu 29 August, 2024
We will meet at Rupanyup near Horsham on Saturday morning and travel together to Hopetoun via the Silo trail. We will get into the Murray Sunset National Park and set up camp.
We will spend Sunday and Monday on the tracks through the Big Desert and will cross over the Calder Highway into the Hattah Kulyne National Park.
Members may finish their trip mid Monday at this point and return home, however, John will continue on to Mildura and across toward Renmark to take the Border track back down into Victoria.
We will camp back down in the Little Desert before heading to the Grampians for another overnight camp and return back to Melbourne on Thursday.

All meeting back in Jamieson for a meal together.
Sunday, we'll head to a different part of the high country in the search of snow.
This is a perfect beginners and family friendly trip. Especially great for the young, or the young at heart!

This is a one-day trip I got from the '4WD Treks Close to Melbourne'.
We will be travelling from Narbethong to Marysville or the opposite.
Tracks will be dependent on the weather.
Come and have some fun. We love exploring, so who knows where we may end up.
We aim to finish the trip around 4:00 pm.

Yarck to Dargo then Dargo to Tom Groggin
(Mid Week Trip)
Mon 27 - Fri 31 May, 2024
Leaving the club property at Yarck on Monday May 27 at 9:00 following the upcoming Maintenance weekend.
Travelling to Mansfield and then via King Billy Track and Zeka Spur into the Wonangatta Valley.
Camp overnight and then head to Dargo via Cynthia Range and Crooked River tracks.
People may want to finish at Dargo and travel back to Melbourne. I wlll be heading to Omeo and from there up to Tom Groggin. I will be heading from Tom Groggin to Canberra so the trip would finish just over the Murray River on the NSW side.

A day in the Anglesea Heath for New Members and New Trip Leaders

These tracks are not too easy and are not too hard. They are all low range tracks on sandy, gravelly soil. Expect a lot of ruts.
We have taken new members on these tracks before and they have had a great day out.
We will be meeting in Waurn Ponds just off the Geelong ring road for members travelling from Melbourne and travelling in convoy to Anglesea.
I encourage new trip leaders that are doing their theory training in the week prior to this trip to join on this trip.

Weekend at Grannys

We will be base camping at Granny's Flat Campground in Jamieson. Facilities at the campsite include a drop toilet and a river.
The trip will start on Friday to give a chance for everyone to socialise and get to know each other. We will be there early Friday to secure a spot. We will explore some of the local tracks and visit some mines time permitting. There will be at least one river crossing.
If enough time we will also stop at the Kevington pub and then return to camp. The plan is to book dinner at the Jamieson Brewery Saturday night.
Sunday's plan is to relax and maybe explore another track depending on the consensus.

From the pub we will be heading to Mansfield and then up to Craig's Hut for lunch.
Wet weather - Circuit Rd, dry weather could bring more 4WD tracks into play.
After lunch head back to Yarck Pub.

Newbies are encouraged to join us for this nice little day trip out into the Rubicon State Forest for a picnic lunch up to a cattleman's hut rich in history.
Keppel hut has been locked away behind gates for a few years and it's finally open for visitors.
This trip is suitable for those camping at Yarck over the Anzac Day long weekend and want an activity to do on the Sunday before heading home or for those who wish to come up for a fun day trip .

McDonald Highway - Little Desert Anzac Weekend

Make a long weekend of the Anzac Day holiday and join us in Western Victoria.
There will be plenty of driving and exploring, but it's also a very social trip with happy hours, camp fires and maybe a pub meal at Goroke Hotel on one of the nights.
We will kick off officially at 5pm on Anzac Day with happy hour at Lake Charlegrark camping ground (which has excellent facilities).
Friday will be a full day drive in the central section of the Little Desert NP, bring all your food and drinks for the day.
Saturday will be a half day drive in the Western section, followed by an optional visit to Nhill Aviation Museum.
Sunday is a free day to do some more sightseeing yourselves or head for home.

Our trip officially starts at Friday Night at Deptford campground, ready for an early start on Saturday morning.
We will explore alongside the Nicholson River & into the Bullung-Warl State Forest before heading towards Dargo if time permits a quick refreshment at the iconic Dargo pub, before bush camping alongside the Dargo River.
Sunday, we head across to Seldom Seen,Dawson city, Dogtown and down the haunted stream which has multiple river crossing, and finishing up at Tambo Crossing.

City Of Greater Geelong (COGG) is happy for us to do a Clean Up at Point Henry, they'll provide a skip, and a safety briefing.

East Gippy Adventure

Bruthen to Marlo. The trip has difficult driving sections which including clay, steep heavily rutted tracks and numerous water crossings.
Departing Bruthen Monday 9am we will head for Swifts Creek via the numerous water crossings of the Haunted Stream Track.
Continuing North, highlights will include Mt Gibbo, Mt Pinnibar and the Murray River at Tom Groggin.
From here we head south taking in Davies Plain, Cobberas Range, McKillop’s Bridge and Mt Tingaringy.
The trip will end in Marlo 4.5 hours east of Melbourne.

Wombat Cuddles & Working Bee

This is a combined 4X4 club activity with TLCCV and MJOC.
Working to assist the Narbeview Wombat Shelter with its Annual Maintenance tasks.
These include
- Some clearing after recent storms
- Cleaning out the wombat shelters
- Assistance with flooring for the new rooms
- Clearing tracks and grass cutting at the wombat release site
Bring own drinks and morning and afternoon tea to share. Also: gloves, masks, shovels, mattock, brushcutters, chainsaws & PPE (if you have a chainsaw license)
This is important assistance to Shelley and Rod in keeping there shelter running. There will be time for animal feeding and cuddles during the weekend

We'll head into the Heathland behind Anglesea and work our way south into the Otway Ranges.
We will be timing tracks for the following weekend.

Wally's Wonderings in Toolangi
(Day Trip)

This trip is a reece for future trips exploring the Toolangi State Forest beginning in Yea.
It is a day trip and the adventure will take off from Limestone Road. We will then make our way down to Murrundindi.
As time permits we will stop and take in any sites as we discover them such as waterfalls, mountain peaks/ranges etc.
From Murrindindi we will decide whether to go towards Rubicon or down to Toolangi.
As it’s an exploratory trip you will need to be prepared for any conditions and challenges.
Come and join us as we take our new LC300 for its first off-road adventure and scratches
