CV Repair Course

Have you ever wondered how you would cope with a broken CV in a modern 4WD out on the tracks?
In this course you will learn how to replace a CV in a 200 series (very similar to most modern IFS 4WDs).
How to do a "bush fix" to get you out and how to replace a broken CV with a spare using nothing more than hand tools.
BYO: Old clothes and a great attitude.

- Camera basics / Shooting in manual mode / Raw vs JPG
- Onsite practical - sunset, understanding importance of light
- Downloading onto your computer and editing
- Preparing files for printing
- Options of papers for different images
Basics of Adobe Lightroom. (A free trial can be downloaded before the course from Adobe).

Radio Communication Course
Sat 14 - Sun 15 May, 2022
9am at Yarck
The aim of this course is to de-mystify radio communications and assist in getting the best results from your radios.
Discussions will include:
- In vehicle cabling-both 12 volt & RF, including location of radio equipment
- UHF & HF radios. AM & FM broadcast radio
- Scanners on emergency services. Digital radio- a brief discussion
- Electronic theory covered to provide some back ground on how stuff works
- View the Garmin Overlander GPS navigator running Hema topo, Garmin street mapping and OziExplorer.
- Testing antennas if the connection plug is easily accessible
A questionnaire will be sent out prior asking what participants would like to get out of the session. Some preparatory home work will also be given.

Online learning:
You will be enrolled into onlline learning to support your education on the day. Online learning will take approximately 3-4 hours and must be completed prior to the face to face session.
Cost:
First Aid (HLTAID011) $150 ($50 deposit on booking non refundable after Sat 22 Jan, 2022).
Other notes:
If you do not wish to obtain a certificate, you will receive a $15 credit to apply towards First Aid products
To obtain a certificate students must be able to perform CPR on the ground for 2 minutes.

An interactive course where students will be able to practice the repairs on supplied tyres or their own tyre.
Areas to be covered:
- Types of tyres and their construction
- Rim types and their construction (Safety rim and Split rim)
- Removal and re-installation of tyres on different rim types
- Tyre repair methods using strings, combi and radial patches
- Tube use and repair
- Equipment required
What to bring if available:
- Tyre levers - minimum 600mm length (Only if you have them already)
- Standard tyre repair kit with the reamer and string insertion tool
- Bring your own tyre to practice repair if you wish

Must have completed DA within the last 5 years or be willing to complete another partial DA.
To have been a member for at least 2 years, or be willing to pay for second year's membership in advance.
Vehicle mounted winch and appropriate accessories (damper, tree trunk protector, bow shackles etc)
Description:
Learn advanced driving and recovery techniques from first principles. We'll learn basic though to advanced winch rigging techniques such as righting an overturned car using a hi-lift as a winch. Learn how to mount and dismount a tyre from a wheel using basic hand tools. Use of traction boards (maxtrax/treads) and other advanced techniques.

Learn to safely handle your chainsaw while performing basic cross-cutting techniques. This course provides training in the safe use of engine or electrically operated hand-held chainsaws. It includes sharpening chains and completing routine and frequently required service requirements as well as periodic servicing.
By successfully completing this course, you will receive a recognised qulification. This qualification will allow you to use a chainsaw at Yarck & on organised Parks Victoria or DELWP works.
